Good breastfeeding latch
There is no defined breast position for breastfeeding for
all the mothers to follow. select a position that gives comfort to the mother
Lay on back position
Mother should lie in an inclined position and place a pillow
on the back to support, place your baby’s tummy down on your belly. allow your
baby to latch on and guide your baby if he /she needs help.
Cradle position
The easiest method for both baby and mother and common too.
place your baby on your arms on the same side of your breast. the crook of the
arms act as a pillow for your baby. place your arm in a sleeping line position
and support your baby bottom with your palm .make he /her turn to your breast
side. make to her to latch and feed your baby.
Cross cradle position
This position is similar to the cradle position.it is very
helpful for small or premature babies.lay your baby on the same side of your
breast hold your baby’s head and shoulder at the nape of the neck. support your
baby’s back with your forearm and help your baby.
Football position
This position is similar to the above cross cradle.it is
helpful for a mother who undergoes a cesarean has a big breast with a small
nipple. keep your baby on your breast side and hold the baby's back and head at
the nape of the neck. tuck the baby's legs under your arm and feed your baby.
Side-lying position
Best suited for relaxed nighttime feeding and mother
undergone cesarean.it providing mother extra rest. lie on your side and place a
pillow under your head for support. lie your baby on your side place a rolling
towel on the side of your baby’s back, make baby’s mouth near your nipple, and
feed them.
